BlitzWolf BW-F2 Water Resistant Bluetooth Speaker Review

5 min read

Today we take a look at a water-resistant bluetooth speaker made by BlitzWolf. In this review, we cover the following four areas.

  • Bluetooth pairing test
  • Loudness test + comparison to Jawbone Mini Jam Box
  • Water resistance test
  • Bluetooth distance test

The main reason that I wanted to review this speaker was that it claims to be water resistant while being priced at only $26.99 on Amazon. Typically, speakers are not water resistant and priced at under $30, this feature could be a selling point.

  • 2000mAh lithium battery yields 8 hours of playing time at 70% volume
  • Bluetooth 4.0 and also could be connected using a 3.5mm connection
  • IP65 water resistant
  • 50mm 5W speaker and a passive subwoofer deliver crisp clear sound
  • Built-in water resistant mic for hands-free phone calls
  • Anti-shock will absorb most accidental drops

Bluetooth pairing: The bluetooth pairing process was fast and effortless. I was able to pair it to my computer as well as my ipad and iphone very quickly and easily. All three devices took about the same amount of time (under 30 seconds).

Loudness test: This speaker surprised me by how loud it played. I didn’t expect much from a speaker priced as low as this one but it plays loud enough to fill an average size room with sound. I compared it to a Jawbone Mini Jambox that is priced at around $80 and the BlitzWolf played much louder. The speaker could literally be used to play music for a home BBQ with a few friends.

Water resistance test: I was hesitant to test the speaker’s water resistance because I really didn’t think it would do well. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it repelled water and I have no doubt that this speaker can handle the outdoor elements with no issues.

Bluetooth distance test: The product spec page shows that the BlitzWolf has an operating range of 10 meters or about 32 feet. In my test, I was able to keep a reliable connection at 75 feet. I was still able to connect at 100 feet but the audio started dropping out at that distance. With a clear line of site, I would say that this device is operable at 75 feet.

Overall I think the speaker is capable of slightly more than what the manufacturer’s specifications claim. In my experience, it’s usually the other way around. Manufacturers typically claim more than what the product can actually do reliably.

The only thing I could find that could be an improvement is adding a speaker to the back side of the device. Doubling the sound output by using two speaker drivers can make this speaker more appealing than what it already is.

This device is a definite buy. The water resistant feature makes this speaker fit almost any case scenario as well as giving peace of mind knowing that it is well protected. It’s a great speaker for outdoor activities as well as indoor use. With Christmas around the corner, this could be a great stocking stuffer or as a gift to each one of your family members.

      Hey Moose!
Charge time is about 3 hours. You could also use it while it’s plugged into the charger.
