Solving My Battery Issue + Reusing a Broken iPhone
In this video, I’m unboxing two quality-of-life upgrades for the studio — one for power, and one for safety.
First up is the SmallRig dummy battery kit for my Sony A7 IV. It’s built to keep the camera powered during long shoots — without the heat build-up you get from USB charging or the hassle of swapping batteries mid-roll.
The second item is a Supfine case for a badly cracked iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve repurposed that phone as a controller for the Blackmagic Camera App — and now I don’t have to worry about cutting my fingers on exposed glass.
🧪 Coming soon: I’ll test whether this dummy battery triggers the Sony “non-genuine battery” warning — and see if I can mod the DC barrel connector to work with my V-mount rig.
